Handled — Privacy Policy
Effective August 24, 2026
The short version: your household's data lives on your devices and in your own iCloud. We don't run accounts and we don't sell your data. The free version shows ads (Handled Pro removes them) — but what's in your home (your chores, rooms, and people) is never shared with advertisers.
What Handled stores, and where
Your household — members, rooms, chores, schedules, completions, and settings — is stored on your device. If you're signed in to iCloud, Handled keeps a copy in your private iCloud database so your own devices stay in step, and shares it with household members you invite through Apple's iCloud sharing. Handled does not operate its own user database, and we cannot read your iCloud data.
The AI assistant
When you generate a chore plan or use Ask Home, Handled sends the minimum needed to answer: your question, room types, first names of household members (never surnames), the week's schedule summary, and a one-line fairness summary. Plan generation sends only a member count, not names. These requests pass through our server to Anthropic's Claude API to produce the response, and Handled does not store them. This information is used to answer your request — never for advertising or profiling.
Advertising (free version only)
The free version of Handled shows banner ads served by Google AdMob. Handled Pro contains no ads.
- What advertisers get: ads are delivered and measured using device information such as the advertising identifier, IP address, and ad interaction data, handled by Google under Google's privacy policy. This is the only part of Handled that involves advertising data.
- What advertisers never get: your chores, rooms, schedules, household members, questions to Ask Home, or anything else about the inside of your home. Ad targeting never uses your household content.
- Your choice: iOS will ask for permission before Handled uses your device identifier for personalized ads. If you decline, you still get the free version — with non-personalized ads instead. Subscribing to Handled Pro removes ads entirely.
Room photos
Photos you add to rooms stay on your device. They are never uploaded to our servers or included in AI requests.
Subscriptions
Handled Pro is billed by Apple through your App Store account. We never see your payment details.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled locally on your device. Quiet hours and notification preferences never leave it.
Analytics
Handled itself sends no analytics off your device. The advertising SDK described above collects ad delivery and performance data as part of serving ads in the free version.
Deleting your data
Delete your household from the Household tab (Danger Zone) and Handled erases it from your device and from its iCloud copy. Deleting the app from your device removes local data; the iCloud copy can also be managed in iOS Settings › Apple ID › iCloud.
Children
Handled is made for the adults running a household. Child profiles are created and managed entirely by a parent, live in that family's own data, and have no accounts of their own. Ads in the free version are aimed at the adult account holder; if children share the device, Handled Pro removes ads entirely.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated date.
